Reef Passage

Papeete was a bit of a wash, the marina was nice and the staff excellent but it is next to the main road so noisy and dirty. The market was interesting with some nice local produce.

I was very surprised at the amount of asian food available, spring rolls were on sale both cooked and uncooked at a lot of shops. The supermarkets were full of sauces & noodles.

After a few days we moved down to another marina which meant a passage inside the reef. It also involved a lot of communication with port control as we had to cross both ends of the airport runway. There was also a lot of canoes. One of the six man canoes overtook as we idled along at 4.6 kts and I don’t think they were really trying hard.

This resort looked nice but it was very close to the flight path

Approaching the marina, massive mooring field full of yachts. The photo only shows a small part of it.

The first thing we did was bunker and then tied up. There was a great bar / restaurant at the end of the wharf so we had dinner and drinks there.
